about
Matthew 14:29-33
"29 ...Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!'
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' he said, 'why did you doubt?'"
lyrics
I've heard it said the son of God could walk across the water easier than most folks can walk across the ground, but every time I step out onto the hard-packed soil, it turns to coal-black water and I drown. Ain't never been no Mother Theresa. (No she ain't) There ain't no savior's blood flowin' in these veins. Boy, best believe that if you cross me, your filthy blood will be staining my blade. Ain't got no map for the path of the righteous. (No, she don't) Ain't never seen no sense in repentin' all my sins 'cause sure as the sun sets and rises, Lord knows that I'm gonna sin again. Now, I don't believe the son of God could walk across the water, though folks believe as easy as they walk across the ground. My faith lies in little more than suffering and toil. I'm sure, just like the rest of us, he'd drown.
